FAQ
How clean does the floor need to be prior to applying the IFloorTape Products?
A clean floor surface is crucial as you do not want to apply the Peel and Stick Floor Marking onto old paint or tape residue. For maximum durability and a proper application, the product needs to be applied to the floor directly. Trapped dirt or old residue only creates a larger possibility of a failed application.
How do I pick the best product for my application?
For permanent lines, Tuff Mark and our Anti-Skid Tapes will form a permanent bond with the floor. These products are extremely durable. Where layout changes are possible, the non-residue, removable tapes are generally recommended. For foot traffic and light cart areas, our 6mil solid color vinyl and over-laminated hazard tape works well. If your goal is extremely long life or for areas that include pallet jacks and heavier equipment - the 30mil solid, message or chevron striped DuraStripe is recommended. For high traffic, 24/7 operation we recommend going to the stronger adhesive and beveled edges of the 34mil Supreme V and 50mil Mightyline floor tapes. Customers who need something really durable generally graduate to this product if they started with a lower thickness, less aggressive adhesive product. When requesting a test sample, include information about your project like area use and problems with current floor striping. We can help direct you to the best solution.
What width is best?
Wider is stronger and more visible. 4 inch is the industry standard and the best value for must customers. For a small cost difference, you get much more adhesive surface area and a wider base to withstand impact. Think of a stopped wheel turning on top of a 2 inch width tape versus 4 inches. The 4 inch wide tape has twice the holding power to withstand this force and is much less likely to be damaged. In the case of our floor signs, the area is so great that the turning wheel has little effect.
What about removable tape on floors where pallets scrape the ground or forklift wheels will be twisted on top of the tape?
We recommend scoring through the Mightyline or Supreme V tape every 12 inches after it is in place. This will not prevent skewing or damage, but it will isolate problems to a small area. This scoring trick will provide consistently clean, straight lines with little maintenance and without having to replace all when only part is damaged.
How do I repair damaged floor tape?
For a quick, professional looking repair, lay a new piece of tape over the damaged area, cut through both new and old tape at each end of the damaged area, peel out the old tape, release the backing on the new patch and apply for a perfect fit.
How long will the IFloorTape products maintain its color?
The color is embedded into the material, therefore there is no fading nor scraping of the color from the surface of the material. When the surface gets dirty, it can easily be cleaned with soap and water. For harder skid marks, Greased Lightning and scotch brite will do the job. The color will be just as crisp and clear as when initially applied.
What do you recommend we clean the floor with prior to applying IFloorTape products?
One recommended product is 'Simple Green'. It is very important to use low-chlorine based or chlorine-free cleaners. Reason: chlorine tends to leave a haze on the floor which can prevent the adhesive from sticking properly to the floor.
Are the rolls of IFloorTape Striping available in custom colors?
Although it is difficult for us to create precisely the color requested, we can create them to the closest resemblance possible. However, there is a minimum quantity requirement of 24 rolls for the MightyLine 50mil Striping and 170 rolls of the DuraStripe Lean 30mil with an initial custom color set up fee.
What do I use to remove the Peel and Stick products from the floor?
Nothing is required to release the adhesive from our rubber adhesive products. The footprints, dots, floor tape etc all use a removable, non-residue adhesive. You may simple peel up the floor marking product.
Can I reuse floor footprints, dots and tape after removal?
Yes you can! Move to a clean dry surface or in the case of shapes like footprints, place on a clean surface like rigid plastic or wax paper and stack on each other if you intend to reuse them in the future.
